MIAMI, August 1st., 2017 – Visa (NYSE: V) announced the appointment of Vanesa Meyer as Vice President of Innovation and Strategic Partnerships for Latin America and the Caribbean. Vanesa will lead our innovation development and implementation efforts while managing strategic alliances to bring Visa innovations to our clients throughout the region. The Innovation Center in Miami and Innovation Studio in Sao Paulo will be under her leadership. In these spaces, we discuss trends, explore pain-points and co-create with our clients, partners, Fintech and the payment industry so as to develop concepts and create prototypes for new payment solutions based on a human-centered design approach.
The appointment of Vanesa Meyer reinforces our commitment to innovation as we seek to provide the best customer experience in an open and collaborative environment. "Transforming technology and accelerating digital leadership are essential for our business in the region, both in the short and long term. Just as important is the strengthening of our partnerships with clients and other players within the ecosystem to successfully co-create," said Ruben Salazar, Vice President Senior of Products and Solutions for Visa Latin America and the Caribbean. "I am confident that Vanessa will strengthen our innovation agenda, given her vast experience and knowledge working together with customers and merchants in the payment industry."
"Innovation is the process of creatively solving big problems, and discovering opportunities that others do not see," Meyer said. "There are many opportunities in the region: the high penetration of smartphones, the emergence and adoption of new technologies, and a large population of millennials who are willing to adopt new solutions, among other factors. All this increases the potential for innovation in digital payments. I am proud to join Visa as part of a team that will spearhead innovation for the Latin America and Caribbean region.
"Meyer has more than 20 years of experience leading teams in the payment, technology and financial services industries, mainly in positions held at Citibank and the wireless telecommunications company Centennial. In her most recent role as Head of Products and Solutions for the Geo Central Division at Miami-based MasterCard Worldwide, she defined and managed the strategy of products and solutions in markets with high growth in the Caribbean and Andean regions. Meyer holds a master's degree in marketing from the University of San Andrés, in Argentina.
